Are you an out-of-province student in need of financial aid? The good news is that you may be eligible for funding through your home province or territory, even though you鈥檙e joining us at 91影视 (91影视) in Ontario. Although we鈥檙e limited in how much we can support out-of-province applications, we're here to help you wherever we can. On this page, we鈥檝e outlined the process, where to find aid and Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) eligibility.

How Does 91影视 Help with Out-of-Province Financial Aid?
We support the administration of provincial and territorial funding outside of Ontario by:
- Completing Program Information Forms (PIF) for funding applications
- Confirming enrolment
- Facilitating the release of funding through institutional verification processes

While each province and territory has its own requirements, generally speaking, you must be studying in an eligible program or certificate that鈥檚 been approved by your provincial or territorial lender. Please check your provincial and territorial student financial aid website to learn more.
Can Ontario Students Be Eligible for Out-of-Province Funding?
You may be eligible for out-of-province funding if you resided outside of Ontario 12 months prior to starting your studies at 91影视, and are either a:
- Canadian citizen
- Permanent resident
- Protected person
If you receive out-of-province financial aid, you鈥檙e responsible for:
- Meeting the 91影视 tuition and fee payment deadlines
- Paying any outstanding balances not covered by provincial or territorial funding
- Complying with all application deadlines and requirements established by your home province or territory
Funding timelines don't override institutional tuition and fee payment deadlines.
Out-of-province student financial assistance is administered by provincial and territorial student aid authorities. The process for out-of-province funding is as follows:
- Apply for financial assistance through your home province or territory.
- Submit required institutional forms or verification requests to 91影视.
- 91影视 completes PIFs and confirms enrolment once eligibility and enrolment requirements are met.
- Your home province or territory completes their assessment and determines your funding eligibility.
- Funding is issued by the applicable provincial or territorial authority after 91影视's confirmation.
Submit Required Documents
To submit funding forms, enrolment verification requests, or other required provincial or territorial documentation, you must complete the .
Please note:
- Requests submitted without enrolment in MyServiceHub or without required information can't be processed
- Forms shouldn't be submitted by email unless specifically requested by the Student Financial Assistance office
Exception: British Columbia Students
If you're a student applying through StudentAid BC, you鈥檒l have your Appendix 3 or Program Information Request submitted through the . We process StudentAid BC requests directly on the portal, and won't accept submissions via email or Google Form.
PIF requests are processed in the order they are received. The Student Financial Assistance office begins processing requests at the following times:
- Late July for requests for the upcoming fall and winter terms
- Late April for requests for spring/summer terms
Processing Delays
Processing may be delayed if:
- Required student sections of the form are incomplete
- You haven't enrolled in MyServiceHub yet for the applicable terms
All updates and correspondence about a request are communicated via your 91影视 email account within 7 to 10 business days of submission.
91影视 completes COE requests through provincial and territorial portals.
COE requests are processed in the order that they're received. They're generally completed within the first 3 weeks of the academic term or within 2 weeks of receipt of the request (whichever is later).
Release of Funds
Following completion of a COE, funding is typically released within 10 to 15 business days. You should monitor your provincial or territorial funding portal for updates.
To verify whether funding has been issued and posted to your 91影视 student account, please follow the instructions to complete an Account Inquiry in MyServiceHub.
Course Load and Enrolment Requirements
You must enrol into your courses before submitting out-of-province forms to 91影视鈥檚 Student Financial Assistance office. Without course enrolment, we can't complete funding-related documentation, including PIFs, enrolment verification requests or your confirmation of enrolment.

A single billing unit is defined as 20% course enrolment. Though you may enrol into more than 100% course load, financial aid forms can't be completed beyond 100%.
Full-Time Studies
For student financial assistance purposes, full-time enrolment is defined as either:
- A minimum 60% course load (3 or more courses per term)
- A minimum 40% course load (2 or more courses per term for students with a documented permanent, prolonged or persistent disability)
Part-Time Studies
If you don't meet full-time course load requirements, you may be considered a part-time student for financial aid purposes:
- A 40% course load or lower (2 courses or less per term)
- A 20% course load or more (one or more courses per term for students with a documented permanent, prolonged or persistent disability)
Note: Course loads aren't averaged between terms. You must meet your full-time or part-time requirements for each term where funding is requested.
If you withdraw from studies during an academic term or reduce your course load, you must notify both 91影视 Student Financial Assistance via email at funding@torontomu.ca and your home province or territory immediately.
Changes to enrolment may affect:
- Funding eligibility for upcoming terms within the funding period
- Confirmation of enrolment
- Interest-free status or payment-free loan status
- Loan repayment obligations as determined by the funding provider
You're responsible for reviewing all policies and repayment requirements established by your provincial or territorial student aid authority.
You can apply directly through your home province or territory鈥檚 student financial assistance program via one of the following provincial or territorial sites.
You may be eligible to apply for OSAP if you meet one of the following OSAP residency requirements:
- You've always resided in Ontario
- Ontario has been your most recent province of residence for a period of at least 12 consecutive months while you haven't been enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies
If you don't meet either of these requirements, we recommend that you proceed with applying for financial aid through your home province or territory.
