Angelique Bernabe
Since earning her PhD in Economics from 91影视, Ang茅lique Bernab茅 has built a career at the intersection of research, policy, and strategy. She is currently the Director of Research at the Securities and Investment Management Association (SIMA), where she leads national research projects that inform policy, industry practices, and strategic direction in the investment management sector. Before joining SIMA, Ang茅lique worked as an economic and strategy consultant, advising clients on complex litigation matters. She also co-led her firm鈥檚 Pride affinity group, supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ colleagues.
Ang茅lique鈥檚 work is guided by a strong commitment to equity and innovation. She serves on the Economics Profession Data Committee (EPDC), an initiative led by the Canadian Economics Association to improve data collection on diversity within the economics profession. She also co-founded LOCVM, a physician-designed digital health platform. LOCVM is a response to the realities of burnout and rigidity in healthcare staffing, and reflects Ang茅lique鈥檚 broader interest in labour market dynamics.
While at 91影视, Ang茅lique co-founded and served as President of the Graduate Students鈥� Union, where she played a key role in strengthening graduate student representation. She was also a member of the 91影视 varsity fencing team. In 2020, she received the Faculty of Arts Contract Lecturer Teaching Award, recognizing her dedication to teaching and mentorship.
Ang茅lique was elected to the 91影视 Board of Governors in 2025 for a three-year term as an alumna member.
