Program Overview

Format: Full-time

Degree earned: Master of Science

Options: Thesis, Course-based, Course-based with co-op

The Master of Science (MSc) in Occupational and Public Health provides advanced learning and research opportunities related to the prevention of workplace injury and illness and the promotion of public health. In the first and only program of its kind in Canada, students gain the knowledge, skills, expertise and core competencies necessary to shape the future of occupational and public health in Canada and globally.

The Thesis option is a research-based degree that combines coursework, seminars and a master鈥檚 thesis. This option is particularly appealing to those who are interested in in-depth research and future doctoral studies. It can be completed in 24 months of full-time study.

The Course-based option combines coursework, seminars and a capstone applied research project course. The program can be completed within 12 months, providing flexibility for graduates to more quickly enter the workforce. With the new Co-op option, the program can be extended to 16 months by including an integrated work term in the Spring/Summer semester to provide valuable work experience prior to graduation.
