Minor in Indigenous Thought

The Minor in Indigenous Thought provides students with the opportunity to learn about Indigenous thought on Turtle Island through a variety of Faculty of Arts-based courses focusing on Indigenous philosophies, literatures, political systems, land-based practices, cultural practices, and languages.

To receive this Minor, students must complete six (6) courses from the following curriculum:

Required courses (1):

  • PHL 535 Introduction to Indigenous Philosophy

Plus five (5) courses from the following:

  • ENG 203 The Literature of Indigenous Peoples
  • ENG 650 Indigenous World Views
  • GEO 311 Indigenous Geographies
  • GEO 711 An Indigenous Guide to the Apocalypse
  • HAU 100 Haudenosaunee Cultural Perspective
  • HAU 400 Haudenosaunee Leaders and Writers
  • MHK 101 Introductory Kanyen鈥檏茅ha I
  • MHK 201 Introductory Kanyen鈥檏茅ha II
  • PHL 565 Topics in Indigenous Philosophy
  • SOC 553 Indigenist Thought
  • SOC 580 Indigenous Feminisms
